Dean & Tyler Muzzle Review: Bite-Proof Design with Room for Customization

Materials & Durability: The wire basket is crafted from durable metal with a soft felt nose pad for added comfort. The leather strap is adjustable and comes with a bar instead of a side-release clip, though an upgrade to a buckle option is available if desired.

Comfort & Fit:

For a wire basket muzzle, this muzzle is impressively lightweight, a characteristic consistent across DT's Freedom and DT lines. However, the All-Weather version is slightly heavier.

Getting the width right is super important. I often see this muzzle pinching the sides of a dog’s face when it’s just a bit too narrow.

Another thing: Tye doesn’t usually need a forehead strap, but he could easily take this one off without it. Not saying that’ll be the case for every dog, but it’s something to keep in mind if your dog’s a bit of a Houdini!

Sizing: I took the time to measure a few models and compare them with the sizing chart on Dean & Tyler’s website. On a super positive note, they’re a bit conservative with their measurements but still pretty spot on  to what I was finding. Great news if you’re looking for reliability!

Overall, I’d say these muzzles are wider than the plastic Baskerville options but come up a bit short on pant room. For instance, their pit bull muzzle in size 20 has a 4.75" pant height and a 14-inch circumference, but I typically see pit bulls needing closer to a 5" pant height and a 15-inch circumference.

Customization potential: Customizing these muzzles is a fantastic upgrade, and it’s a service we’re proud to offer at Tye Dye Muzzles! It’s a great way to add some fun and style to your dog’s look without sacrificing safety. Plus, you'll get a quick-release buckle instead of the double-bar one, super handy. And as a bonus, we offer free help with sizing to make sure it’s the right fit. Check out our custom options here: (COMING SOON!)

Cost & Value: I think these muzzles are a good value for the money. The pluses? They’re bite-proof, and the sizing online is accurate, which is great for peace of mind when ordering. I do wish they had a bit more pant room, though, and it’s worth being cautious if your dog might be able to slip it off.
