Step 1: Try it on!
We recommend playing some muzzle games to get your dog used to the muzzle.
Once your dog is comfortable, try the muzzle on your dog. This will give you a good idea of what adjustments you may need.
Is the collar too big or small? Can you clasp it properly? Is it sitting in the right place?
Step 2: Adjust the collar
If the collar is too big or small, adjust this first. You can make this adjustment by placing a finger behind the screw and using a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw.
Do this on both sides, and find the right sizing for your dog. You may need to remove the side straps as well during this process.
Once the collar is all set, attach the screws back in place.
Step 3: Add the straps back on
Once you've determined if you need to tighten or loosen the side straps, begin by removing the screws that attach these straps to the muzzle.
Depending on your dog's temperament, this might be easier to do while the muzzle is on your dog and the collar strap is clipped.
You may need to play around with moving the strap up or down the collar as well.
This adjustment will have a big impact on where the muzzle sits on your dog's face. If the front/basket of the muzzle generally fits, but it's sitting in an odd place on your dog's face, this is the adjustment that should help!
Step 4: Lock everything in place
Once you are happy with the fit of the muzzle, secure the muzzle in place with the provided super glue or some strong threadlock.
All you need to do is put a tiny bit on eaither end of the screw and secure the screw into place.
The side strap screws have a tendency to come loose if you skip this step. We do include extra screws with your muzzle but to prevent any issues, this step is critical.
If you need to purchase additional screws, they are Chicago screws size M5 X 6. You should be able to find a set on Amazon.
