Baskerville Muzzle Review: An Affordable, Customizable Starter Option

Materials & Durability: The Baskerville muzzle is made from sturdy plastic with adjustable black nylon straps and a quick-release buckle. The forehead and collar straps are adjustable, but the chin strap is fixed, which can be an issue. It's often either too long or too short for some dogs.

The quick-release buckle includes a locking feature, which is a bit of a love-it-or-hate-it situation. While it keeps the buckle securely fastened so your dog can't wiggle out of it, it also means you'll need a bit more patience to undo it yourself.

Comfort & Fit: In my experience, the Baskerville muzzle either works for a dog’s face shape or it doesn’t. While it can be heat-molded for a bit more flexibility, its rigid structure makes it largely dependent on the specific contours of your dog's snout. I’ve heard from others that it can rub on the bridge of the nose, though it’s unclear if this is due to an imperfect fit or just the design of the muzzle itself.

Sizing: The size chart available online can be a bit confusing. It lists the circumference (referred to as "width") and nose length, which is helpful, but it leaves out key details. Since the muzzle has a fixed width and height, these dimensions are important for finding the right fit.

To make things easier, I’ve created my own sizing guide by measuring the actual width and height of each muzzle. See below for details:

Customization Potential: These muzzles look so much better with a bit of customization! They come in all black, which can appear a bit harsh on your dog—it always reminded me of Bane before I added custom straps. A personalized touch can make it look friendlier and more unique. Cost & Value: Baskerville muzzles are a great option if you're looking for a starter muzzle for your dog. They're on the affordable end, making them ideal for muzzle training and figuring out which features you might want before investing in a more premium option. I know many dog owners who have successfully used a Baskerville muzzle for years, so it's definitely a solid place to start if you're new to muzzles.
