Mayerzon Vinyl Dog Muzzle Review: Affordable Entry-Level Option
Materials & Durability: The muzzle is made from vinyl with foam-like straps and double-cap rivets. I’m always wary of double-cap rivets because they can be easily pulled apart, unlike the stronger options like tubular rivets or Chicago screws. The muzzle features a quick-release buckle at the back, which functions smoothly.
The vinyl easily cracked and I can't see the straps lasting forever. The vinyl is 2mm thick, I'm not quite sure if there are rules around what type of vinyl should and shouldn't be used on a muzzle so it's something I'd be cautious of.
Comfort & Fit: Tye hated it. Theres a strap at the bottom to connect it to a collar that just poked him in the next. It was a little big on him but fell off immediately when he shook his head. I plan on testing this on medium and large size dogs and will update this when I do. I'm hopeful it's simply just a sizing issue though I would not recommend for a dog under 20lbs.
Sizing: I ordered both the medium and small sizes, and the dimensions are quite interesting. The medium measures 4.5 inches in height, 3 inches in width, and 2.5 inches in snout length, making it slightly wider and shorter overall. In contrast, the small measures 5 inches in height, 2.5 inches in width, and 2 inches in snout length.
Customization potential: Slim but possible. I customized one of the muzzles and will need to adjust the other to fit Tye properly. However, when I disassembled it, the vinyl cracked in a few places, which shows the material's limitations. I wish Tye Dye Muzzles could customize these, as there’s great potential to upgrade the cheap hardware and improve overall durability.
Cost and value: This muzzle might be a decent choice if you’re looking for an entry-level, affordable vinyl option that’s returnable in case it doesn’t fit correctly. There are two versions available, and I recommend the one with the treat hole listed below. It also includes extra nose padding, and the small added cost seemed worth it for the added comfort.
